Best Bridal Getting Ready Spaces in Hertfordshire, Buckinghamshire & Berkshire

The room you get ready in can make such a difference to the whole feel of your wedding morning.

As a bridal hair and makeup artist, I spend a lot of time in bridal suites and getting ready rooms, so I naturally notice the things that make a space work really well.

Of course, beautiful interiors are lovely, but there are also practical details that can completely change the morning: natural light, enough room for everyone, plenty of seating, somewhere to keep dresses and bags out of the way, and whether you can actually access the room early enough.

Plenty of plug points are also so important. You don’t want extension leads and wires running all over the room, not only because they can ruin the look of your getting ready photos, but because they can become a trip hazard too. It’s amazing how many venues still haven’t thought about this.

And after the heatwaves we’ve had this year, a cool getting ready room is a must. A hot, stuffy room makes it so much harder to create and maintain flawless hair and makeup, no matter how good your hair and makeup artist is. If everyone is overheating and sweating before the ceremony has even started, it can make the whole morning feel more stressful than it needs to.

These are five bridal getting ready spaces across Hertfordshire, Buckinghamshire and Berkshire that really stand out to me.

Ashridge House, Hertfordshire

Ashridge House is one of my favourite places to work on a wedding morning.

It has such a grand, elegant feel, with beautiful interiors and breathtaking views across the grounds, so the morning already feels incredibly special before the ceremony has even begun.

One of the biggest advantages is the flexibility around access. At quite a few venues, the main bridal preparation space isn’t available until later in the morning, which can sometimes mean starting hair and makeup somewhere else and then moving everyone partway through.

Ashridge can be much more flexible with timings, which makes such a difference, especially if you have a larger bridal party or an earlier ceremony. Being able to arrive, unpack properly and stay in one place helps the whole morning feel much calmer and more organised.

There is also plenty of space for hair and makeup, dresses, photographers, videographers and the bridal party without everyone feeling on top of each other.

Another little bonus I genuinely love is The Bakehouse, Ashridge House’s on-site café. It means you can actually get a proper coffee on the morning of your wedding without anyone having to leave the estate . Something that feels surprisingly important when you’ve got an early hair and makeup start.

And once everyone is ready, the surroundings are incredible for photographs. The views across the estate and the grandeur of the house make such a beautiful backdrop.

Micklefield Hall, Hertfordshire

Micklefield Hall has a purpose built bridal getting ready space, which really shows in the little details. There’s plenty of room for the bridal party, salon style hair and makeup stations with large mirrors, comfortable seating, a bathroom and its own little kitchen, which is so useful on the wedding morning.

One of my favourite things is that it’s split into two separate rooms, which means the bride can get into her dress away from everyone else and then do a proper dress reveal to her bridal party. It’s such a special moment and an amazing one to capture on film.

They’ve also installed air conditioning, which for me is an absolute must for summer weddings these days. After the heatwaves we’ve had, having a cool room makes such a difference when you’re trying to create and keep hair and makeup looking perfect.

It’s a really well thought out space that feels as though it has actually been designed with the wedding morning in mind.

Hedsor House, Buckinghamshire

Hedsor House has one of the most beautiful and spacious bridal suites I’ve worked in. There’s plenty of room for a large bridal party, with a large space to get ready, a separate bedroom and an Insta worthy bathroom. I think it may actually be the biggest bathroom I’ve ever been in!

I also love that it isn’t simply somewhere you get ready and then leave behind. Hedsor becomes your home for the day, and you return to the suite later for your first night as newlyweds.

With so much space and everything you need in one place, getting ready at Hedsor feels incredibly special, almost like you’re living in a fairytale for the day.

Moor Park Golf Club, Hertfordshire

Moor Park Golf Club has such a brilliant bridal getting ready space, with plenty of room for you and your bridal party to spread out and enjoy the morning.

One of my favourite details is that there’s a separate area with actual pedicure chairs, which is something I’ve never seen at another wedding venue. It makes the space feel like your own little beauty suite for the morning and is such a fun touch if you want to make more of the getting ready experience with your bridesmaids.

There’s lots of space for hair and makeup, without everyone feeling on top of each other, and the whole set up feels as though it’s been properly thought about with the bridal party in mind.

Because it’s such a beautiful suite and one of my favourite places for a wedding morning, I’m so pleased to be on Moor Park’s preferred suppliers list. It’s always such a pleasure to do a bride’s hair and makeup there.

Cliveden House, Berkshire

Cliveden House is such a special place to spend your wedding morning. It has that rare, almost legendary feel to it, with so much history, character and glamour attached to the house, and you can really feel that when you’re there.

The beautiful interiors, grand rooms and incredible surroundings make the whole getting ready experience feel luxurious from the moment the day begins. There’s plenty of space for hair and makeup, while the rooms create such a gorgeous backdrop for photographs throughout the morning.

What I love most about Cliveden is that you really feel like you’re getting ready somewhere iconic. It’s one of those venues where every corner feels beautiful, so even the getting ready photographs feel incredibly special.

Choosing the right bridal suite can make such a difference to your wedding morning. The best spaces are beautiful, spacious and thoughtfully designed so everything feels calm and easy.

These are five of my favourites, but there are so many incredible venues across Hertfordshire, Buckinghamshire and Berkshire, and I’m always discovering new ones.
